Today we spent time Skyping with our RELO (Regional English Language Officer). My RELO is Rebecca and she is in Tanzania. She is amazing and I am lucky to have such an amazing, support RELO. We spent time asking questions and learning more about our positions. We also spent time looking at various scenarios such as inadequate housing, cultural insensitivity, position changes, and class attendance issues. Our positions vary a lot and there are many issues that may come up with the host institution and the embassy. Again, I feel very fortunate to be a part of the African group. They are amazing, supportive, compassionate people.
We also had a dinner tonight with all of the fellows. It was really nice just to relax, share food, and learn more about each others' projects. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone because most likely the next time we see each other will be by Skype or at a regional conference. It was definitely bitter sweet.
I am ready to come home, spend time with family and friends, pack, and head to Africa!
